Read the article

We are now just days away from the World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2017, sponsored by S.Pellegrino and Acqua Panna. The fifteenth edition of this world-renowned gastronomic awards event takes place in Australia for the first time ever on April 5, at the Royal Exhibition Building in Melbourne. It will be live streamed starting at 8 p.m. AEST (12 p.m. CEST) on Fine Dining Lovers.

Will Italy’s Massimo Bottura take the top title for the second year in a row with his Modena-based Osteria Francescana? Or will the Spanish Roca brothers, who placed second in 2016, reclaim the top spot with their Girona-based El Celler de Can Roca? Will Daniel Humm and Will Guidara’s New York-based Eleven Madison Park, last year’s third place, emerge victorious?

The World’s 50 Best program will commence this year with a series of events, one of which is #50BestTalks, also sponsored by S.Pellegrino and Aqua Panna. #50BestTalks will be an opportunity for food lovers to obtain a rare inside look at the world’s best restaurants and hear from the world’s best chefs on what drives them and gives them that extra edge.

On April 1, #50BestTalks Sydney at the Sydney Opera House will feature Massimo Bottura, Dominique Crenn, Peter Gilmore and Brett Graham. On April 3, #50BestTalks Melbourne at Margaret Court Arena will feature Daniel Humm, Will Guidara, Gaggan Anand, Jordi Roca and Grant Achatz.

Mark Moriarty and Mitch Lienhard, the two previous winners of S.Pellegrino Young Chef (which is now taking applications for its third edition) will also be present at these talks to share their experience in creating world leading dishes.

Ahead of the official awards ceremony, this year’s list of the World’s Best Restaurants 51-100 has just been announced. See the list on FineDiningLovers.

In addition, many chefs have already been selected for special awards. Ana Ros from Slovenia has been named the World's Best Female Chef 2017, while Heston Blumenthal has been recognised for his services to the industry with the Diner's Club® Lifetime Achievement Award 2017.  Furthermore, Disfrutar restaurant in Barcelona is the recipient of the Miele One to Watch Award. These winners will receive their awards live at the ceremony on April 5, in Melbourne.
