S.Pellegrino obtains Alliance for Water Stewardship certification

As S.Pellegrino, we are committed to acting responsibly at all times and incorporating a caring attitude in all our business practices. Helping to preserve the catchment area of the water has always been one of our priorities.

That's why in 2020 we undertook the route to certification under the Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS), a global membership collaboration of businesses, NGOs and public sector bodies, and above all the global benchmark in the field.

The AWS Standard is the first, comprehensive global standard for measuring responsible water stewardship across social, cultural, environmental and economic criteria.

Achieving Alliance for Water Stewardship certification is a source of pride for us.

This certification is reflective of Nestlés robust approach to water stewardship at its plant in Bergamo, Italy, where S.Pellegrino sparkling natural mineral water is bottled. 

The facility has saved more than 154 million litres of water in its production processes last year.

But this is not the end of our journey towards sustainability. It is an additional motivation for continuous improvement in responsible water management.

Through good water governance we will help ensure responsible sharing of water resources in the interests of the local community and the natural environment.

We will always use the water resources needed for production in the most sustainable way, helping to ensure constant good water quality status while helping to conserve the surrounding natural environment, and the safety of our workers.

Achieving AWS certification in Bergamo,  is an important milestone in Nestlé’s global efforts to secure credible, third-party recognition for its water stewardship efforts. The S.Pellegrino facility’s progress contributes to Nestlé’s global commitments related to helping to protect water resources, which include improving water efficiency in operations, advocating for effective water policies and stewardship, and engaging with stakeholder and suppliers.
