Each year, the Australian photographers come together for the S.Pellegrino Café Society Photography Competition to celebrate photography, food and conviviality.
The competition started as a creative idea from Australia and involves a number of selected cafés in Melbourne, Sydney and the students of Metropolitan Universities.
Their aim is to capture the atmosphere of the Café Society through photos and a theme that changes every year. It’s brings back memories of a time at the turn of the last century when young intellectuals would gather at cafés in NY, Paris, London and Vienna to discuss politics, art and other subjects. What still remains of that time is the spirit of conviviality and the pleasure of the café ritual, which is still very much alive amongst young Australians. And when it comes to conviviality, there is nothing better than having a S.Pellegrino (water and Sparkling Fruit Beverages) and Acqua Panna to share while chatting or reading the papers.
