While we wait for one of the most anticipated moments in the culinary calendar of the year, we already know that Dominique Crenn, who runs both the Atelier Crenn and Petit Crenn restaurant in San Francisco, has been chosen as The World’s Best Female Chef 2016, while Alain Passard received the Lifetime Achievement.

Who will get the crown this year? The first position of the 2015 edition was awarded to El Celler De Can Roca, Spain, owned by The Roca Brothers, that conquered the top spot for a second time after dropping to second place in 2014. The second place went to the Italian chef Massimo Bottura and his Osteria Francescana restaurant in Modena, Italy: the chef climbed up one place from third in 2014. The overall four-time-winner Noma restaurant, Copenhagen, with chef René Redzepi dropped from the number one spot in 2014 to number third place.
