S.Pellegrino® Journey of Water Design Labels

One icon, three narratives

After a series of special editions dedicated to Italian creativity and style, this set of three special limited edition labels represented one stage of the fascinating journey of S.Pellegrino: water falling from the clouds, being naturally enriched with minerals during a long journey through the earth, and finally emerging to take on the sparkle of those signature bubbles. Hence the three labels that made up "The Journey of Water": Clouds, Earth and Bubbles. The three labels featured three unique pieces of design created by three talented designers from around the world.

Clouds

"The Journey of Water" begins in the sky, in the clouds. The image on the label is composed entirely of dots, representing the fundamental unit, the water molecule. The image was created using an artistic style deeply rooted in the Chinese heritage of designers Neri&Hu, adding a new dimension to the 125-year-old S.Pellegrino brand. It shows the transformation of water as moisture in the air forms clouds and falls as rain.

Earth

An essential element in "The Journey of Water" is the earth. The striking visual on this label shows an inverted pyramid of flowing lines, symbolizing the process of water being filtered through the earth, where it is enriched with mineral salts. The lines descend to the source in the center of the label – the S.Pellegrino Red Star - and from here, another pyramid of lines cascades out into the world. This original and elegant representation was the work of American designer Steven Haulenbeek.

Bubbles

"The Journey of Water" of S.Pellegrino would not be complete without its signature touch – bubbles. Here they are celebrated in a design that plays with the iconic blue and white watermark of the label. Deconstructed then reconstructed by French designer Philippe Nigro, it turns into a multitude of bubbles, while the star and letters remain unchanged. It's a sophisticated depiction of the fine carbonation with which S.Pellegrino water acquires its gentle “perlage”, before proceeding to the tables of restaurants, enhancing moments all over the world.
