Expectant global diners will find a whole host of first-time entrants, with restaurants located around the world from Belgium to Russia and Mexico to Macau.

In total, 44 different cities in 25 countries will be represented with restaurants in the 51-120 list.

Also, as part of this year's birthday celebrations, a special event will take place on the morning of 24 June entitled ‘Food Meets Future’ co-hosted by Massimo Bottura from Osteria Francescana the current holder of The Wold's Best Restaurant 2018 title.

S.Pellegrino and The World’s 50 Best Restaurants will host the one unique event encouraging World’s 50 Best Chefs to explore, collaborate and commit to a more inclusive future for gastronomy, encouraging positive changes in the food and restaurant culture.

For the occasion, José Andrés, the winner of this year’s American Express Icon Award, will address the assembled audience on the responsibility chefs have to help feed the hungry. A Q&A session will follow allowing young cooks to challenge their more experienced peers on how they expect to nurture the next generation; plus, an edible art installation created by innovative Singaporean pastry chef Janice Wong will be on show to wow the assembled invites.
