The origins of Sanpellegrino Italian Sparkling Drinks

The fulfilling taste of Sanpellegrino Italian Sparkling Drinks begins with the finest fruits ripened under the Mediterranean sun.

The taste of Italian goodness

Our iconic Italian Sparkling Drinks have been crafted with creativity since 1932. Our winning recipe for a top drinking experience always begins with careful selection of the highest-quality Mediterranean fruits.

Our drinks are produced exclusively in Italy. The oranges for our Aranciata come exclusively from Sicily and Calabria, our Limonata is made with lemons from Sicilian citrus groves, and the fruit used in our Chinotto drink grows on the fertile slopes of Mount Etna itself.

We have long-standing relationships with many of our partner farms, where the fruits are harvested by hand, and their juices extracted in facilities located in the same region to capture all their delicious goodness.

Citrus Fruits

A passion for citrus

A citrus grove is like a child. It can never be left unattended and is in constant need of care and attention. Checking the leaves, blossom and fruit on each plant is a daily activity, while pruning and harvesting are carried out manually according to centuries-old techniques that take years to perfect.

In the words of Giosuè Arcoria, owner of the citrus grove in Sicily where the Tarocco oranges for Sanpellegrino Italian Sparkling Drinks are grown: “Being a citrus farmer is not an easy job. It requires physical strength, patience and sacrifice. Only those with a passion for citrus fruits are able to work in this industry. But it is a noble kind of work that dates back centuries, using knowledge passed down from generation to generation, knowledge that is intrinsically linked to the local nature and the Sicilian way of life.”

Lemon, the year-round citrus

In the Sicilian citrus groves where we source the lemons for Sanpellegrino Limonata, the trees produce fruit almost all year round.

Our sparkling fruit and tea drinks are made with tea extract, organic cane sugar and the juice of Italian lemons and peaches.

Meanwhile, the vibrant flavours of Sanpellegrino Mixers are the result of a finely crafted balance of refined ingredients such as quinine, oak and quassia wood extracts, citrus peel and a blend of gingers.
