Maido Wins Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants 2018

Maido (Lima, Peru) took the winning spot at Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants 2018, sponsored by S.Pellegrino and Acqua Panna.
The announcements of the winners of the prestigious celebration of the very best in global gastronomy took place on 30 October, in Bogotá, Columbia.
Second place went to Central (Lima, Peru), followed by Pujol (Mexico City, Mexico) in third place.
OTHER AWARDS
During the highly anticipated night, a number of restaurants and chefs were announced for the yearly awards recognizing a variety of rising stars. These awards ranged from the restaurant that ranked the highest first entry into the list, to the venue recognized for the owner and chef’s strong environmental and social responsibility practices.

PREVIOUSLY ANNOUNCED AWARDS
A number of awards that form part of Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants had been announced ahead of the ceremony and were presented during the night.
These included the Diners Club® Lifetime Achievement Award which went to María Elena Lugo Zermeño and Gerardo Vázquez Lugo of Nicos in Mexico City, as the first joint awardees of the title, Miele One To Watch was presented to the restaurant Manu in Curitiba, run by chef Manoella Buffara. The elit® Vodka Best Female Chef was presented to 31-year-old Pía León, Peruvian chef co-owner of Central and chef-owner of Kjolle, both in Lima – the youngest chef ever to take this award.
