The first edition of S.Pellegrino Young Chef 2015 the most exciting World Wide talent search for chefs. After the Grand Final was held in Milan where the winners were revealed, we have captured some points to reminds us, whilst we wait for next years edition.

3,620 applications arrived from chefs under 30-years-old in 191 countries around the world.

200 semifinalists selected, 10 for each of the 20 geographic areas involved. 

20 finalists selected by a local juries of renowned chefs during a special tasting trial. One young chef for each of the 20 world areas. 

20 mentor chefs accompanied the finalists to the Grand Final in Milan. 

20 talented designers from all over the world were paired with young chef finalists to create a special fashion design inspired by the chef’s dishes.

1 Grand Jury of 7 Top Chefs. The Young Chefs were judged by a jury of seven famous international chefs, the “seven sages”:  Joan Roca, Massimo Bottura, Yoshihiro Narisawa, Gastón Acurio, Yannick Alléno, Margot Janse and Grant Achatz.

1 S.Pellegrino Young Chef 2015. Mark Moriarty, who represented UK-Ireland area. The Irish chef beat off competition from 19 young chefs with his dish of Celeriac baked in barley, a vegetarian plate that played on the flavors of Guinness.

1 Best Chef/Designer couple award and a special Best Couple Web award both went to the Latin American duo of chef Maria José Jordan and fashion designer Paula Cademartori.

1 Best Designer defined by a Jury lead by Vogue Italia. The award went to Xiao Li from China for her simple designs inspired by the tomato dish of Chinese young chef Zhu Wenyuan.
