Young chefs are reminded that there are less than two weeks to go before the application deadline for S.Pellegrino® Young Chef 2018, with applications closing on April 30, 2017.
This is a unique opportunity for young professional chefs to take part in a global competition, showcasing their signature dish on a world platform under the mentorship of some of the biggest names in the industry.
Who can apply for S.Pellegrino® Young Chef 2018?
Chefs de cuisine, chefs de partie, sous chefs and commis, aged 30 or under, from around the world, with at least one year’s work experience, are all invited to apply. Applications will be accepted in English, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, French and Italian. However, all candidates will be required to both understand and speak English, as the official language of the competition.
How can I apply for S.Pellegrino® Young Chef 2018?
In order to take part in the global talent search for the best young chef in the world, young talents must complete the online application here, submitting a recipe and photos of a "signature dish", some basic personal information, a CV and answer a few basic questions like “What are your professional dreams for the future?” and “What would you like to express with your dish?”
What is the S.Pellegrino® Young Chef 2018 application process?
Each application will be evaluated by ALMA, Italy's International School of gourmet cooking according to the criteria explained in the rules, throughout May 2017 with up to 10 finalists being shortlisted in each of the 21 global regions. Those finalists will compete in Local Competitions taking place in each respective world region, where just one finalist will be selected by the local jury to represent the region at the grand final in Milan in the summer in 2018. It is on this world platform that 21 young chefs will face off in front of the Seven Sages (previous Sages have included: Wylie Dufresne, Massimo Bottura, Grant Achatz, Joan Roca), a panel of the world’s best chefs, who will select the best young chef in the world.
